The Cheese Connoisseur

About This Basket

A very special basket that deserves to be taken seriously. I have chosen the cheese in this basket with lots of help and advice from Peter Papprill 'The Cheese Detective' of Pendrill's. Three of the cheeses I have chosen are made by Mike Heler at Laurel Farm Dairy in Nantwich. The Traditional Coloured cheese is made in small batches from the farm's Holstein Friesian cows. The flavour of the Traditional Coloured Cheese is developed over 3 months, the cheeses are bandaged in muslin to allow the cheese to breath. The Blue Cheese is clothbound and pierced to let the blueing enhance the flavour, it is left to mature for 8 weeks. A herd of Jersey cows make the Joseph Gold cheese a rich golden coloured cheese. The fourth cheese in the basket is Golden Cheshire Brie made from Andrew Hope's Guernsey herd. Katy Hollinshead at Ravens Oak Dairy makes these small deep golden cheeses. The basket is completed with everybody's favourite apple and fig chutney and a box of handmade oatmeal biscuits. This is a great gift for anyone who loves and appreciates fine cheese.

Please allow 5 working days before your required delivery date when ordering. Most of the produce we use is handmade to order by small producers and the 5 days notice will help them.

Advice on handling cheese

Please be aware that this basket contains perishable items that require refrigeration upon receipt. The cheeses should be left for an hour at room temperature, prior to being eaten, for the full flavour to develop.
