About Us

I began to shop in farm shops and farmer's markets, near where I live and work in Cheshire, about 7 years ago and I was amazed by the variety of products available from the region. I realised I was very lucky to live in an area where this fine selection of wonderful tasting produce was available on my doorstep.

Although my busy life meant, that like most people, I continued to do the weekly shop in a local supermarket I would often take a trip to my local farm shops to treat myself to local artisan produce, often taking my Mum along with me. We would buy items for special occasions or just sheer indulgence!

As is often the case, I have family and friends scattered all over the country and whenever a special occasion occurred and I couldn't be there in person, I would scour the internet for personal gifts that could be delivered, looking for alternatives to the predictable bouquet of flowers!

I began to think about creating gift baskets full of the beautiful, locally produced food I loved so much, to send to my friends and relatives, as gifts. I thought that other people would appreciate this service too, but for a long time all I did was talk about setting up the business. My Mum constantly told me to do something about it but as often happens, day-to-day living and working got in the way.

Then in February 2009 my Mum sadly died, a life changing experience, and I realised that life was far too short to just think about doing things, sometimes you just have to do them - and so Cheshire Baskets was formed.

Cheshire baskets is truly a team effort, with wonderful and unfailing support of my husband and family, the business backup from Jane Casson of 'Made in Cheshire' and the inspirational support from Peter Paprill but of course there would be no Cheshire Baskets without the passionate, enthusiastic and wonderful people that are - 'Cheshire's small food producers'.

To share time and some truly delicious produce with this wonderful collection of people has made starting this business the best thing I have ever done.
